Our Story
People talk about being at the right place at the right time. 3 guys who just happened to perform music at the same establishment, mostly at different times. Their worlds would collide and without any warning whatsoever a different kind of band was started. After numerous sit-ins and such, the bar owner, called them a “bunch of freakin’ hooligans”. Well, they couldn’t argue with that, so the band The Freakin’ Hooligans was born. Scott Sorrells hailing from Memphis is the fearless leader and the bluesy voiced crooner and guitarist that has been there done that and done that again……..and again. Ian Holder, the bassist, rock purist, and resident geek squad of the band hailing from Mellencamp Country. Ian is the voice of reason amongst all this madness that is Scott and John Campbell, who is the drummer turned percussionist from St Louis. John decided that a box (cajon) was much more fun and much easier to carry around than a drum
set. His objective, to mess with Scott and sometimes the audience any chance that he gets, and he usually succeeds. All members involved have a wide range of musical tastes ranging from blues and country all the way to hard rock and heavy metal and literally everything in between. This helps the group to satisfy a plethora of musical tastes that the audience may have, and they aren’t averse to learning something on the fly and playing it if requested. If there was a comfy band, then it would be this band. They give a feel like they are playing in your living room. You and your friends hanging out, talking, interacting with the band up close and personal. The Freakin’ Hooligans have fun and love what they do, and it shows. That is why for the last 9 years they have built the following that they have. “Hooliganosity” is in full effect and here to stay.
